There is no film, no two-cour shortcut, and no “watch this first.” Kagurabachi is a Weekly Shōnen Jump manga. Official English lives on VIZ and MANGA Plus the same week as the magazine. Chapter 1 is usually free forever on Plus. That is how the 2023 meme became readers. This site does not host chapters.
The only order that matters
- Chapter 1, “Mission.” Shop, raid, Enten, cafe. Close reading: chapter 1.
- Chapters 2–18, Vs. Sojo. Char, Cafe Haru Haru, Cloud Gouger, True Realm, the first wartime blade to die. Arc: Vs. Sojo.
- Chapters 19–46, the 208th Rakuzaichi. Hakuri, the Storehouse, Shinuchi listed, Kyora dying through the masterpiece. Arc: Rakuzaichi.
- Chapters 47–115, Sword Bearer Assassination through “Swordsmith.” Sanso, Senkutsuji, the Kyoto hotel, headquarters, the end of Part 1. Arc: Sword Bearer. Long cut: Part 1.

That is the whole reading order. Databooks, the 2026 calendar, UNION ARENA cards, and this encyclopedia come after. Side extras in the tankōbon — Genichi Sojo’s Bathhouse Quest, Soya Sazanami’s Memories, Begone! — are optional and sit in the volumes, not in the weekly plot.
Volumes versus weekly
Eleven Japanese Jump Comics are out. Volume 12 is solicited for 4 September 2026 and is expected to close Part 1 and open the war book. English trades from VIZ run behind the magazine. If you are a volume reader you will hit a wall where the next book is solicited and the next chapter is already free. That is normal. Volume breaks are not arc breaks. A volume can end in the middle of a conversation. Volume 1 is Mission. Volume 2’s jacket is Chihiro versus Sojo. Do not wait for a “complete first cour.” The first complete argument of the book is chapter 18.
What is safe to open early
Birthdays are dates. Glossary and the series page are orientation. First-read notes are twelve things chapters 1–20 will not spell out, written so they do not wreck the surprise. The raid is the event chapter 1 is already standing in the wreckage of; read it after the first chapter, not instead of it.
The battle index, the death ledger, and most character files after Chihiro assume you have met the person. Blade pages assume you have seen the blade used. Part 2 pages assume you have finished “Swordsmith.”
How this encyclopedia is meant to be used
Read the manga. When a name, a blade, or a date snags, search this archive or open the matching page. The chapters have the faces. We have the filing. If someone sent you a later fight clip, go back. The early chapters are short on purpose. They teach the shop, the father, and the blade before they teach the war.
