Chapter 1 puts the bowl on the table and trusts you to watch furniture become a moveset. Sojo is a customer. Enten is a retraction. These notes are the things first-time readers miss before the auction starts teaching architecture. Mild Vs. Sojo spoilers. Later arcs stay behind the black bars.
Read on VIZ or MANGA Plus. Chapter 1 is usually free forever on Plus; that is how the 2023 meme became readers. Then the arc map if you want the four movements named. If you only know the hashtag, start here, then chapter 1 on MANGA Plus.
- The fish are furniture first. The bowl is on the table before it is a moveset. That is the point. Hokazono threw koi out on the storyboard because carp looked like a weapon and goldfish looked like a life. Kuro, Aka, Nishiki are named for the household. Goldfish page.
- Sojo is not Hishaku. He is a customer. The men who killed Kunishige sold him a sword in early October. A lot of recaps blur this and then cannot explain Yura. Sojo wants to mass-produce Kunishige. The Hishaku wanted the contracts open. Those are different hungers. Worst-fan essay.
- Chihiro will not spend civilians. That single rule is the whole difference between him and every adult who touched a blade in the war. The coat is black with other people’s blood. The line he will not cross is someone who cannot hold a sword.
- Shiba is the strongest person in the room without a national weapon. The teleport is a joke until it is the only exit. He left the Kamunabi when the smith went into hiding. He is Chihiro’s adult, Cafe Haru Haru, extraction, the friend who stayed.
- Char is the test. If Chihiro leaves her, the book is a different genre. Sojo wanted Kyonagi cells as a Datenseki stabilizer. Azami wants Chihiro away from that man. Chihiro stays. She can heal herself and other people. That is why everyone wants her.
- Datenseki explodes people. Enchanted Blades are the rare version that overflow as weather instead of craters. Sojo is trying to fake Kunishige’s eyes and producing stones that hold for a few minutes. About 250 kilograms known. One pair of eyes ever made it safe. Datenseki.
- True Realm is the brief, meant. It is what the wielder wants the steel to do when they finally mean it. Sojo wanted slaughter; Cloud Gouger gained it. Chihiro wanted a household object to cut a weapon; Enten did. Theories.
- Enten cuts Cloud Gouger. Wartime swords were sold as immortal. Chapter 18, “Roar,” files a correction. Chihiro keeps the pieces. Even a dead blade can still spend a few charges of Mei. He will use them at the auction.
- The Anti-Cloud Gouger squad is the state’s cavalry: six specialists. Four die. Hagiwara loses his legs. Kazane loses an arm. That is the state’s best offer against one stolen sword. Hiyuki comes later.
- Hakuri arrives “empty.” The Storehouse was already his. He was scattering his own spirit energy. The auction taught him he was stock. When he chooses Chihiro over the Rakuzaichi, the Storehouse opens. He is one of two people in clan history to hold both Isou and the Kura. The discarded son inherited the building.
- Hiyuki is the Kamunabi as a person you might stand next to. Flame Bone is why the auction does not become a second island. She is on a permission slip, skeleton up to the ribs, and she will burn the hall if the alternative is leaving people in the Storehouse. Flame Bone essay.
- Part 1 is a revenge story that keeps naming the father. If you want the later brief, Enten as a retraction, it is seeded every time Chihiro treats the fish as partners. Kunishige in flashback is a man who sold weapons, won a war, and tried to raise a child over a cellar of failures. Samura’s “betrayal” is a contract-breaking mercy. The elevator is a door.
Sunday still lives under #Kagurabachi. The legal doors are on the ritual page. After chapter 20 the auction starts, and the notes above become architecture.
What chapters 1–20 leave for later
Kasen’s leak, Ibuki as Cloud Gouger’s original, Chiaki as Chihiro’s mother, Part 2 as a kiln, Twilight Wave, Lightning Menace: those captions arrive when the magazine prints them. Send this page and chapter 1 on MANGA Plus. When they want the names, the who is who map is the next door.
