What the present already told us
Shokoku rose from the sea about twenty-two years before the main story. Irishima’s earthquake had already shown a Datenseki vein. Japan harvested it. About 250 kilograms known, one pair of eyes ever made it safe. The war is, at the mineral level, a fight over a vein on an island. Everything else, clans, contracts, flowers, is what people did with a quarter-ton of rock.
The Mikaboshi were old sorcerer kings the Soga once drove off the mainland. They survived under the sea with Datenseki-adapted bodies and came back for Irishima’s stone. Ariu Mikaboshi killed Hiroto and Yoshinojo Soga on the island. The Sorcery Bureau became an army, then the Kamunabi. Civilian sorcerers handle small jobs. The Kamunabi exist because some jobs are national. A year and five months in, Kunishige’s blades reversed the front. Once Magatsumi entered the field, Japan could walk onto the island. That is the official sentence.
After the blades arrived, Shokoku overthrew its royals and signed a peace. After the treaty, Akemura used Malediction anyway. About 200,000 civilians. Flowers out of people. The other bearers failed in the room. The Kamunabi built a myth instead of a trial. Kunishige confiscated all six blades, hid with help from Azami and Shiba, and raised Chihiro over a cellar of swords he could not break. Enten, fifteen years after the war, was the first blade built as a counter rather than a weapon of state. The present-tense plot has been swimming in that water since page one. Chapter 113 is the island-rising page English Twitter called “Japan’s Atlantis.” It is not a new island. It is the clock the jackets already started.
Part 2 on the page
Part 1 ends on “Swordsmith.” Part 2 opens on “Princess.” The uncollected chapters begin with Chiaki Soga, Chihiro’s mother, Princess Soga, foresight as inherited proof of Izanami, and with the Irishima talks. Chapters 117 through 121 are the talks in five pieces, ending on “The Irishima Talks, END.” The negotiation is the war before the blades: what Japan wants from a vein, what a princess can see, what a government will prefer to a living island.
Shiba is still a Soga guardian. He has not yet walked away with a smith. Mashiro is still alive. Kunishige is still a picky weapons dealer who has not yet looked at the ore, the man who sold swords to people he could stand, which meant he barely ate. The Kamunabi’s Datenseki research is going nowhere. Shiba’s belief that Kunishige’s eyes are the only way to make the mineral usable is not yet national policy. It is a friend’s stubbornness.
Chapter 123 is “Chiaki.” Chapter 124 is “Powerless.” Chapter 125 is “Smelting.” Chapter 126 is “Fire.” The smelting chapters are the smithing manual: how a pair of eyes made a mineral into seven national sins. Hokazono talked to a real swordsmith so the workshop pages would not be cosplay. Part 2 is that homework coming due. After an announced month off, 127 and 128 continue the smelting; 129, “Ironworks” (23 August 2026), puts Kunishige inside the fire with Chiaki as the reason he keeps his eyes open; 130, “I'm Fine!” (30 August 2026), pulls tamahagane from the furnace and puts Chiaki in the shop two years late, with a beach still three days away. English videos argue about paternity rumors after chapter 118 and 122; face, eye, and the absence of insect sorcery still point at the smith. The rumor is not treated as fact here. The YouTube keeps a separate argument: do not Skypeia the flashback. Twenty to forty chapters, not a clip show. The printed run through 130 is still the talks, the princess, the first fire, one plate of steel. The six wartime blades are not yet a myth. They are not yet a cellar. They are not yet a raid. Chihiro has not been born. Enten does not exist. The book is in the room where the sins are still a proposal.
Unfinished
