Kagurabachi is written and illustrated by Takeru Hokazono. It began in Weekly Shōnen Jump issue 2023 #42, on 19 September 2023. Jump Comics Volume 1, Mission, landed 2 February 2024 (ISBN 978-4-08-883819-9). As of 1 May 2026 there are eleven Japanese tankōbon. Volume 12 is listed for 4 September 2026 (ISBN 978-4-08-885177-8). VIZ Media and MANGA Plus carry the English simulpub the same week as the magazine. VIZ’s first print volume arrived 5 November 2024 (ISBN 978-1-9747-4724-5). How it landed
Promo art was a black coat, white type, and a fish. English Twitter decided it was the next Big Three before page one existed. Chapter 1 was the most-viewed new title on MANGA Plus in its first week. The series passed Spy × Family, Dragon Ball Super, and Boruto on that app’s popularity ranking. By April 2024 MANGA Plus had logged over 99 million page views. Ironic posts opened the chapter. The Vs. Sojo fight, Hakuri, and Samura are why people stayed. Hokazono was born in Osaka on 6 September 2000. The one-shot Enten placed at the 100th Tezuka Awards and ran in Jump Giga Spring 2021. Kōhei Horikoshi and Masashi Kishimoto have recommended the book. Vaundy has too. It ranked seventh on AnimeJapan’s 2024 Most Wanted Anime Adaptation poll. The 2023 joke is now a shelf that Circana BookScan and the New York Times graphic list have had to make room for, monthly, since late 2024.

2024: won the 10th Next Manga Award, print category. Nominated for the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award. 2025: nominated for the 49th Kodansha Manga Award (shōnen) and for the Eisner Award, Best U.S. Edition of International Material, Asia. 2026: won the Daruma for Best Action Manga at the Japan Expo Awards; nominated for Best Drawing and New Manga. Crunchyroll took seven Daruma at Japan Expo 2026’s 25th edition; Kagurabachi’s action win is the one this page records. Nominations are not a personality. The Next Manga win is the one that matches the meme-to-flagship arc.
