Overview
Sojo wanted Datenseki that did not explode. He thought Kyonagi cells were the stabilizer Kunishige’s eyes had been. Char and her mother were inventory. Chihiro’s decision to keep her, against Azami’s advice to avoid Sojo, is the first time the revenge plot has to share the page with a living person who is not a combatant.
She can close her own wounds and other people’s. That is why everyone wants her and why she sits with the fighters.
Personality
She is a child and inventory in the same body. Sojo wanted Datenseki that did not explode. He thought Kyonagi cells were the stabilizer Kunishige’s eyes had been. Char and her mother were the experiment. Chihiro’s decision to keep her, against Azami’s advice to avoid Sojo, is the first time the revenge plot has to share the page with a living person who is not a combatant. She is not a mascot. She is the reason the opening book learns a rule: he will spend his body without spending her.
The clan was hunted for the way their flesh heals. She is the last. That fact sits on her like a target, not a title. She can close her own wounds and other people’s. Everyone who wants a factory, Sojo, later anyone holding half-stable stones, wants her as a process. Chihiro’s circle wants her as a person who can sit at Cafe Haru Haru. The book lists her with the fighters because the hunt does. The archive lists her with the fighters because the story does not work if she is only a plot item.
She is not given a warrior’s speech. She is given a color page in chapter 2 and a protagonist who stays. That is the personality the text allows: the last Kyonagi, still alive, still being kept. The rest is what other people do when they look at her cells.
Abilities
Regeneration. She can close her own wounds and heal other people. That is the Kyonagi warrant, and it is why the clan was hunted. Sojo’s brief was to fake Kunishige’s sight: Datenseki that holds instead of popping the user. About 250 kilograms of the ore are known. Unprocessed, it is a crater. Char’s cells were supposed to be the cut that makes a katana instead of a bomb.
He failed and succeeded in the same breath. The stones he produced hold for a few minutes, long enough to kill Tenri at the Rakuzaichi, long enough to arm Hishaku infantry on Uruha’s train. The stabilizer was never her as a person. It was a few minutes of someone else’s death. She can still heal. She cannot make Datenseki safe. Only Kunishige’s eyes ever did that.
She is not a sorcerer in the Kamunabi sense and not a blade bearer. A Lifelong Contract is irrelevant. Shiba’s teleport and Hiyuki’s Flame Bone are combat jobs with letterheads. Char’s regeneration sits next to them because the plot treats a healing clan as national material. Hagiwara’s magnetism and Natsuki’s Lightning Menace win rooms. Hers is the reason combatants stand back up, and the reason Sojo thought he could industrialize a smith.
Story role
Vs. Sojo is her book. Three years after the raid, Chihiro and Shiba work the Tokyo underworld. Char says she has seen an Enchanted Blade. Norisaku Madoka confirms Sojo has Cloud Gouger. Azami wants Chihiro away from that man. Chihiro stays. Sojo takes her. The Anti-Cloud Gouger Special Forces stage an ambush; Chihiro hits the compound. He loses an arm and still reaches the True Realm. Enten cuts Cloud Gouger. Sojo chooses Datenseki suicide. Char is still there. The revenge story has learned it will have to protect someone who cannot hold a sword.
Chapter 2’s color page is her entrance. Volume 1, Mission, is Chihiro, Char, Madoka, Azami, and Sojo’s first shadow. She is not on the jackets the way Hiyuki and Hakuri are. She is the reason Volume 2’s duel has a civilian on the other side of the door. After Sojo dies, the half-stable stones he left behind keep killing people she never met. Tenri. Datenseki infantry. The experiment outlives the experimenter.
She remains with Chihiro’s group through the later arcs as the last Kyonagi, not as a combatant on Uruha’s train or in the hotel. The Rakuzaichi and Sword Bearer books are other people’s warehouses and contracts. She is the first warehouse Chihiro refused to leave occupied.
Relationships
Sojo is the customer who filed her as a stabilizer. Her mother was inventory next to her. Chihiro is the first rescue that was not a sword, the decision against Azami’s advice, the line he will not cross. Shiba is the adult who has to extract both of them when the compound goes up. Azami is the Kamunabi voice that wanted the boy away from Sojo and, by extension, away from her.
Kunishige is the eyes Sojo was trying to fake with her clan. She never meets the smith. She lives in the gap Sojo could not close: the household versus the factory. Hakuri and Iori are later inheritance tests in Chihiro’s circle; Char is the first. The archive lists her next to them because the group does.

Why the stabilizer hunt exists
Datenseki pops the user unless Kunishige’s eyes (or a fake) intervene. Sojo’s fake was Kyonagi flesh. Char is the last of that clan. Tenri later dies on a half-stable stone trying to impress Kyora: jellyfish, then the crater, same lesson, smaller shop. Part 2’s smelting is the lesson taught in the correct order, with the correct eyes. Char is why Chihiro’s revenge has to share the page with a living person who is not a combatant. Hokuto opened Cloud Gouger so Sojo could buy it. Sojo bought it so he could hunt her. The method is a chain. See Ibuki, Datenseki, the vein.
