Overview
Chihiro says Tobimune was forged for support. Crow is a reposition. Owl is reconnaissance at the scale of a country, Samura hangs it in the sky and listens for Enchanted Blade noise. Suzaku began as selfish fire and became resurrection: Uruha, Chihiro, a hotel Hiruhiko had already started to unmake. Black Suzaku is the life-for-power rule with the lights off. It is strong enough to argue with Malediction.
Feathers, Crow 鴉
Spirit energy leaves as feathers. Crow swaps the wielder with a feather already placed. External Crow moves other people the same way. It is a support kit that looks like teleportation until you notice the feathers have to exist first. Samura fights by sound, sheathed, at a speed the rest of the bearers treat as weather. The feathers are how a blind man is already standing where you meant to cut.
Owl 梟
A national owl. Giant eyes. Range versus resolution: hang it high and you hear Enchanted Blade noise across the country; pull it closer and the picture sharpens. After Senkutsuji, Samura hangs Owl over Japan. That is how the Sword Bearer arc knows where the steel is. Volume 8’s jacket is a hotel silhouette under that bird.
Suzaku 雀
Flames that heal the wielder and burn everyone else. After the war Samura taught those flames to raise the dead, External Suzaku, the support brief spent on the world instead of the self. He uses it on Uruha at Senkutsuji so the Lifelong Contract dies and the man does not: kill the knot, keep the person. He uses it on a hotel Hiruhiko had already started to unmake. He uses it on Chihiro.
Black Suzaku is the same art at the brink, the “dark power” rule that painted Mei: Shred when Cloud Gouger was dying. When Magatsumi breaks Enten, Samura’s flames go black. They pause the disintegration. He buys Chihiro a corridor and dies holding Magatsumi back. That is the Iai style as ethics: one cut, no extra motion.
Samura to Iori
Seiichi Samura is the war bearer: fastest of the six, Iai White Purity, a Buddhist who tried to kill the war by killing the men who won it. Guilt over the Malediction puts him in a room with Yura. The deal looks like traitor-work. What he actually does to Uruha is a contract-breaking mercy. He erases himself from Iori because he knows what “hero” meant on the island.
Chihiro beats him with purpose, not pace, Enten’s brief, said out loud. Samura heals his eyes and sees his daughter. Tobimune passes to Iori when he dies. She is an Iai student whose memory seal broke the moment she chose to protect someone. The support blade goes to the person he spent a life trying to keep out of the ledger.
Support, then inheritance
Crow, External Crow, Owl, Suzaku, External Suzaku, black flames. Forged for support, Chihiro says. Samura turned healing into resurrection: slash, contract dies, person walks. Owl at national scale is how the hotel becomes a beacon. Black Suzaku is dark power, life spent, Magatsumi’s drain stalled, Enten’s rot slowed, Tobimune sent to Iori.
