The ugly arithmetic
A Lifelong Contract binds an Enchanted Blade to one nervous system. The bearer’s innate art goes dark until the contract is cut. Hishaku method for a blade you do not hold: kill the bearer, open the contract, sell or assign. Hokuto did that to Ibuki. Yura sold the leftover weather to Sojo.
Magatsumi’s contract is the master key. If Akemura dies, the other five wartime bearers die. That is why a basement exists instead of a trial. Suzaku spends the contract and keeps Uruha. Black Suzaku later spends Samura’s life and sends Tobimune. Destroy Magatsumi and the knot comes apart. Enten’s True Realm is that death.
See contracts, the hinge, and customer versus bearer.
