The look
Friendship and Fight Alongside already titled the Iai house. Senkutsuji spends those titles as a cut. Uruha looks dead. Kumeyuri’s Lifelong Contract is what died. Ro recovers the steel. Chapter 78, Switch (交代), is contracts moving. The assassination arc walks through a trick the state will not thank anyone for.
The later spend
Black Suzaku is the version that does not fake. Samura spends his life, stalls Magatsumi’s drain, sends Tobimune to Iori, dies. One classmate gets a false grave. The other gets a real one. The school’s ethics are not gentle. They are specific. See Suzaku and the temple desk.
