The hotel as school
Chihiro copies Iai off Kuguri at the Kyoto Bloodshed Hotel before he ever draws against Samura with his eyes shut on purpose. The hotel is a school. Kuguri is an unwilling instructor. Chapter 64 is Become the Samurai. Chapter 65 is Imitate. Chapter 70 is Iai White Purity Style. Chapter 82 is Enten Vs. Tobimune.
Seiichi Samura is the fastest bearer, Iai White Purity, eyes closed. Kunishige gave him Tobimune because someone should keep other people alive. Owl, Crow, Suzaku. The support blade turns Japan into a room. Iori is the daughter whose memories he erased. The Masumi served that silence.
The cut that keeps
At Senkutsuji, Hakuri returns Tobimune. Samura clears the temple, then cuts Uruha down. It looks like a Hishaku pact. It is Suzaku: kill the contract, keep the man. Black Suzaku later spends his life, stalls Magatsumi’s drain, sends Tobimune to Iori, and dies. Chihiro arrives at that corridor having already shut his eyes in a Hishaku hallway.
The pair is not a tournament. It is a curriculum the son was never enrolled in, copied off a scar and a house style, then spent against the man the house was built around. See Samura, Iai, and copy.
